Exercise to Increase Your Mood!
Make It Meaningful!
Can exercise really increase our moods? Studies have shown that exercise does in fact increase our moods! We all want to be healthy and happy but exercising sometimes feels like a chore more than something fun and exciting. Did you know that it is possible to develop the good habit of exercising and actually think it is fun and exciting!? Try it out!! It makes sense that if exercise makes us happier, and we exercise consistently, that we will be happier overall!! What makes it so hard to get into the habit of exercising daily? Sometimes it can be heavy daily schedules, children, our roles within our households or many other things! If we give our excuses room to invade our lives, our lives will be full of excuses! Yes, we are all busy and yes we all have daily needs to attend to. However, isn’t our health and attitude essential to these daily needs? I would say so! It’s important to carve out time for exercise just as we do for a child’s activities or our weekly shopping trips! Exercising just 30 minutes a day may increase our overall mood and there is also the added benefit of keeping our bodies in good shape! Sounds like a win/win to me!! When first starting a new exercise schedule, it will be difficult to shift our schedules to include our new routine! In order to move through that difficulty, tell yourself that you are giving this new routine 30 days! Studies have shown that new, good habits develop after 30 days of doing it consecutively. I don’t know about you but I can give myself at least 30 days to see if it will make a difference in my life! Exercising daily could also be part of your own self-care plan to give yourself time alone to reflect and restore your own healthy living.
